More importantly, it is the last step in the completion of the VIPortals structure, and it will help enormously in building our community. Sorry about the homepage counter; I forgot to change a single character in the code, which made it say that the contest ended a day before the end of the month. Code Validated by W3C! - May 24, 2008

As most of you probably don't know and don't really care, this website is now validated by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in both HTML and CSS. Basically, this means that VIPortals is now a higher-quality website, and is heading on the right path to success. Although the improvements are not very visible (other than the two new buttons on the bottom of every page and other minor updates), this essential code improvement is also 'future-proofing' VIPortals, so we are here to stay! As well, this website will now become more accessible to the horribly buggy browsers like Internet Explorer instead of being solely optimized for Firefox, although it is far superior to the competition. So hold tight, for there is much to come! PS - If you haven't noticed, there is only ONE WEEK LEFT of the first monthly contest! Just wait for the second one, an expectation of at least twice the profits! I'll keep you posted.

Three Improvements: Community, Quality, and Profits - May 18, 2008

Well, as you might have guessed, after working on the site I realized how much we have progressed since our 'birth' only two and a half months ago. There are constantly people checking out and playing games on this site. The Game Plays counter is actually exact, and not multiplied by 1000x, so if you get past the fact that every other games site incorrectly increases their count, then the number of plays we are getting is quite impressive. I have been updating the site in many ways, but it would be valid to say that the overall quality of the site has improved. The bugs are gone, the updates are more visible, and I still have tons left to do! As for the profits of the site, they are skyrocketing to what they were before. My guess is that the competition has brought people in, and more people are visiting more regularly, even though many are reluctant to log in. We have now passed the halfway mark of the first monthly contest, but there is still a lot of competition left to go, and the dedication I am seeing in some members brings tears to my eyes, even if they are doing it for the money. Thanks guys.

Underground Work - In Progress - May 11, 2008

As you have probably not thought, I have been improving the site (despite all of the common bugs you now endure). I have successfully (and finally) converted the site's layout coding to the most efficient code out there. Basically, my aim has been to make the site faster and to make the site validated as 'proper' code-wise, and I am almost there. What that means to you is that soon this site will be part of the elite, faster game sites out there (which is pretty sick). I hope you can cope along with me, especially because we are trying out our first monthly contest (sweet!) and you can win money if you do (cope with me)! This was not meant to be a one-man-job, but I am pulling through as best I can for you, so I hope you can forgive me.

We are now less than 3 weeks away from the first contest! This will undoubtedly be a huge success, taking into account the large group of members we have gathered in such a short amount of time and the continual joining of new members. With this combined effort, I believe that I will be able to award more prizes for the different winners next month!!! As for real news, there have been tons of small updates, but the one I want you to know is the new and improved bonus points. You are awarded with a maximum of once per day, with few exceptions. By performing simple actions like logging in, requesting a game, and visiting an affiliated link, you get bonus points! Just don't forget to be logged in first! For complete details, check the FAQ. The minor updates include some amazing games I've added, better and fewer ads for members, and more user-friendly game choosing in the categories above! Be sure to try out these new features. Affiliated Links, Scoring System, and Games!!! - Apr 06, 2008

With the new Affiliated Links section, webmasters can exchange links and work together with us to add some flow into this site and their site, which will basically turn into more prize money for you guys! Now for the scoring system: it is practically complete! Read all about it in the <a href='http://www.viportals.com/index.php?params=page/3/'>FAQ section</a>, but I'll sum it up for you... First, you must play the game for a certain amount of time (different for every game), and only then can you rate and comment. If you get the message "You must play the game first", then that just means we know you have not yet played the game enough and you should just continue to play more of it. This is because if you actually play the game, you can give a valid comment or rating or both, instead of spamming many games just to get your score up and win the prize. And finally, we have added more games, and will continue to very often. Eventually, we will hope to build this site up with many more high-quality, fun games. Now for those who are not yet bored of reading this, then you are lucky, because you are about to read a small secret update. The bonus score system is almost in place, and you will receive bonus scoring for many things. Some will give you more points than others. Some examples are logging in, which will give you a few bonus points once a day, whereas requesting a game once a day will give you more bonus points. If you have a link in the Affiliated Links, then every link IN will give you bonus points. Placing in the top daily scores list will also rack in some bonus points for you. VIPortals now has its own scoring system! It is a combination of your Games Played, Votes Casted, and Comments Added. Your score is made highest by increasing these values evenly. The goal of the scoring system is to create some competition between members, BECAUSE THE HIGHEST SCORER OF EVERY MONTH RECEIVES HALF OF THE SITE'S $PROFIT$!!! It's as simple as that. Play, rate, and comment, and you will have a great shot at winning the monthly cash reward!
